Get Ready!

This 1 night 2 day trip will leave from Good Weather in the morning of Saturday, October 8th. It is a self-supported camp-out (bring your own tent). Port Gamble. It’s gonna be awesome.

What kind of bike do I need?

Ideal bike is a Gravel or mountain bike.  There is an extensive trail network at the Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park that includes everything from calm gravel to extreme mountain biking trails.

What is included?

In addition to organizing the routes and details, we’ll be providing

  • A place to sleep nearby the trails.  We’re partnering up with someone who helped to build the trails and will have outdoor spots to camp as well as a barn to camp in if the weather turns on us.  You’ll be sharing each site with other Fun Club members.
  • Dinner & Breakfast – We will be providing snacks for hanging out, a delicious Dinner (with vegan options), and Breakfast foods (Granola and Oatmeal.
  • Beverages – Coffee, tea, water, beer, wine, etc.
  • Support in the form of trail guidance, help with repairs, etc.

What is not included

  • General Ride Snacks or food for special diets – Make sure you have enough food to get through the day or stop by somewhere on the way for a snack!  The town of port gamble has excellent food and drink options too.
  • Transportation of your gear – You’ll need to ride with your own camping gear. Make sure your setup is locked in and ready to roll.
  • We’ll aim to take the fast ferry from downtown. Ferry Tickets – Cost is ~$10 there and $2 back for you and your bike.  Alternatively you can join us via the edmonds ferry if you are closer to that or want to bring other bicycles.

Mostly Self Supported

What does that even mean? It means you’ll also be helped along by your amazing fun club comrades and there will be water and snacks. The support team will also will provide necessary repair equipment if little issues arise.

What should I bring?

  • Bike gear: This includes things like your bike, helmet, packs and lights.
  • Shelter: Remember your tent, tarp, bivy, etc.
  • Sleep system: A sleeping bag and pad are the two must-have items.
  • Water: We’ll have back-up water.
  • Clothing: You’ll want clothes for riding, like bike shorts, jerseys, socks, bike gloves, and clothes for camp, such as underwear, a warm hat etc.
  • Navigation: Bring a GPS and/or smartphone or a map.
  • Hygiene/toiletries: Bug spray, sunscreen, lip balm, toothpaste and toilet paper.
  • Bike repair tools: Spare tubes, a patch kit, pump, tire levers and a mult-tool.
  • First-aid supplies: The basics: bandages and pain-relief pills.
  • Miscellaneous: Food, a headlamp, sunglasses, a camera, etc.

How many people are coming?

There are 25 spots for the campout. If you aren’t able to join, don’t worry, more events are coming ;-).  This event is open to fun-clubbers first, then to everyone.
